StrataWx injects a living, real-world 3-D atmosphere into Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and 2020 in real time. Every change is eased in, at a speed you set.
The whole sky, not a preset
StrataWx reads the live weather where you are and builds the entire column of air you are flying through: temperature and the freezing level, the wind at every altitude, each cloud band sitting where it actually sits, and the precipitation around you. What the profile shows you is exactly what the simulator is being given.
Every hazard, called out before you reach it
Ceiling, freezing level and convective risk up top, icing and turbulence bands plotted by altitude, and live SIGMETs, AIRMETs and PIREPs along your route. You get the flight picture the way a briefer would hand it to you.
Layer by layer, as observed
Up to 24 cloud layers with real bases, tops, coverage and density. Winds aloft at every level from the surface to the flight levels. And the raw METAR it is all anchored to, decoded, with the ATIS it generates for the field.
Four ways to fly
Live keeps the weather that is happening right now current around your aircraft for the whole flight. Historical rebuilds a past day from the ERA5 reanalysis archive, which trails real time by about 5 days. Sandbox lets you author exact conditions, such as overcast at 1,200 ft with a 30 kt crosswind, and fly them. Hybrid starts from the real sky and keeps everything you did not change.
Eased in, never snapped
Wind, pressure, temperature and cloud arrive as continuous moves rather than substitutions, at one of four speeds you choose. The heavy work happens in the StrataWx app outside the simulator, so the sim only ever receives a finished weather state.
